Characterized by its pure, snow-white fur coat and deep black or dark brown eyes, the leucistic mutation is often confused with albino variants; however, unlike albinos, leucistic gliders retain full eye pigmentation, normal eyesight, and lack red eyes.

In terms of temperament, lifespan, and husbandry, leucistic sugar gliders have identical requirements to wild-type grey gliders. As obligate social animals, they must be housed in pairs or small colonies to thrive. Their delicate eyes make them particularly sensitive to bright artificial light, necessitating soft ambient room lighting and dense, cozy sleeping pouches during the daytime.

Key Species Overview & Care Specifications:
- Distinctive Genetic Morph: Recessive color mutation resulting in solid, pure white fur paired with dark black/brown eyes (not red).
- Size & Lifespan: Compact body length of 12cm to 15cm with a bushy tail; boasts a long lifespan of 12 to 15 years in captivity with proper dietary care.
- Essential Social Pairing: Must be housed with at least one companion glider (leucistic or standard color); solitary gliders suffer from extreme loneliness, stress, and self-mutilation.
- Specialized Nectar & Sap Diet: Requires a balanced, high-protein diet (such as HPW or Leadbeater's mix) combined with specialized glider nectar powders, live insects, and calcium supplements.
- Lighting & Eye Sensitivity: Dark eyes retain normal vision, but white fur and light pigmentation require soft indoor lighting and light-blocking fleece sleeping pouches.
- Vertical Habitat Setup: Requires a tall, escape-proof wire enclosure (minimum 90cm to 120cm height) equipped with climbing branches, fabric pouches, and a safe, solid-track exercise wheel.

Support your rare exotic pets with the finest habitat equipment and nutritional care.
