The Amazon Milk Frog (Trachycephalus resinifictrix), also known as the Blue Milk Frog or Mission Golden-Eyed Tree Frog, is one of the most beautiful and charismatic amphibians available in the hobby.

Native to the tropical rainforests of the Amazon Basin, this species displays striking blue-grey coloration, bold dark bands, and a smooth, waxy skin that secretes a harmless, milky substance when stressed — giving the species its name.

Our Amazon Milk Frogs are ethically captive-bred, healthy, and well-established feeders, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced amphibian enthusiasts. They thrive in humid, planted terrariums and become a stunning centrepiece in any exotic setup.

Key Features:

  • Captive-bred – healthy and acclimated to terrarium life

  • Stunning blue-grey body with dark brown bands

  • Peaceful and hardy tropical species

  • Adult size: 7–10 cm

  • Lifespan: up to 8–10 years with proper care

  • Ideal for bioactive, vertical enclosures

  • Enjoys perching on branches, cork, and leaves

  • Nocturnal – active and vocal at night

Care & Setup:

  • Terrarium: Vertical glass enclosure (minimum 45×45×60 cm for a pair)

  • Substrate: Moist soil, coco fibre, sphagnum moss, and leaf litter

  • Temperature: Daytime 25–28°C, nighttime 22°C

  • Humidity: 70–90%, maintained by misting or automated fogger

  • Lighting: Low to moderate light with UVB 5.0 or 6% for health and natural rhythm

  • Diet: Variety of live insects – crickets, roaches, and small locusts dusted with calcium and vitamins

  • Water: Clean, dechlorinated water in a shallow dish or running feature

The Amazon Milk Frog combines stunning looks with calm temperament, making it a showpiece species that brings tropical beauty and life to any terrarium.
