Enclosure: Outdoor pen or secure garden area with shelter
Temperature: Daytime 28–35°C, basking spot 38–40°C, nighttime 22–25°C
Lighting: UVB 10.0 or 12% when housed indoors or during cooler months
Substrate: Soil, sand, or natural grass for burrowing and grazing
Diet: High-fibre, low-protein – primarily grass, weeds, and hay. Occasional vegetables and cactus pads are suitable.
Provide fresh water and cuttlebone for calcium at all times
Avoid fruit and high-protein foods, which can cause shell deformities
