The Uromastyx nigriventris, commonly known as the Moroccan Uromastyx or Black-Bellied Uromastyx, is a hardy, striking desert lizard admired for its calm temperament, bold colours, and fascinating behaviour.

Native to the arid rocky regions of North Africa, this species thrives in warm, dry environments and is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced reptile keepers.
Our Uromastyx are captive-bred, ensuring excellent health, docile nature, and easy adjustment to terrarium life.

Care & Setup:

  • Terrarium: Minimum 100×50×50 cm for one adult

  • Temperature: Basking spot 45–50°C, cool side 28–32°C

  • Lighting: High-output UVB (10.0 or 12%) for calcium absorption and overall health

  • Substrate: Sand mix, desert soil, or dry clay-based substrate

  • Diet: 100% herbivorous – leafy greens, lentils, peas, dandelion leaves, and seeds

  • Provide rocks and hides for basking and security

This species is known for its docile personality and stunning desert colours, making it a fantastic display reptile that thrives in warm, well-lit enclosures.
