Enclosure: Minimum 90×45×45 cm for one adult
Substrate: Soil, aspen, or coconut fibre; include moss and hides for humidity control
Temperature: Warm side 28–30°C, cool side 22–24°C, night 20°C
Lighting: Provide a UVB 5.0 or 6% for natural behaviour and vitamin D3 synthesis
Humidity: 50–70%, with a shallow water area for soaking and swimming
Diet: Readily feeds on defrosted fish, pinkies, and small amphibians (converted to rodents in captivity)
Behaviour: Active, alert, and generally tolerant of gentle handling
